MILWAUKEE, WI - This season, adolescent crafters will unwrap holiday cheer and handcrafted baubles in Cool Jewels: Beading Projects for Teens, an easy-to-follow teen jewelry book published by BeadStyle magazine.

With clear step-by-step instructions and full-color photos, Naomi Fujimoto, senior editor of BeadStyle magazine, walks the reader through 40 easy jewelry projects. Filled with techniques, tips, and tricks, Cool Jewels shows how to transform beads into necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and more - with just a few supplies and a few minutes. Necklaces feature silk, leather, and chain, making them a great fit no matter what a girl's style. She can "Rock on" (p. 44) in a chunky gemstone bracelet that takes only a few minutes to whip up. Or, she can spell out a message in a beaded friendship bracelet (p. 48).

Cool Jewels also lists more than 40 resources, so girls will know where to shop and what to buy. Entering a new hobby can be daunting, but Naomi pares jewelry making down to the basics. Girls will go back to school with beautiful baubles and a new set of skills.

About the author
NAOMI FUJIMOTO is senior editor of BeadStyle, the world's best-selling beading magazine. Naomi says, "I joined BeadStyle in 2003. I am a big fan of simplicity in design. One of my favorite pieces is a smoky topaz pendant my grandfather bought in Korea. I also love charm bracelets, pearls, and tanzanite. I enjoy making jewelry and ornaments from vintage baubles. I sell my designs at local boutiques and at a yearly jewelry show to benefit Milwaukee-area charities.

Prior to joining the staff, I earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and master's degrees in sociology and in human development and social policy. After a brief stint in market research, I landed at BeadStyle. When I'm not making jewelry, I enjoy running with my dog, Ginger, and going to pro basketball games."

Praise for Naomi Fujimoto and Cool Jewels:

"Naomi Fujimoto's Cool Jewels is chock-full of stylish and do-able jewelry projects. She boils down basic jewelry making to an essence that can be bottled and labeled fun and fashion-conscious. Although the book is geared to today's sophisticated and style-conscious teens, this forty-something still finds the beauty and clean lines of the projects most appealing. I proudly added Cool Jewels to my library!"
- Brenda Schweder, author, Junk to Jewelry

"After reading Cool Jewels, I no longer need to raid my mom's jewelry box. It really gave me the feeling that I can make beautiful jewelry for me and to give as gifts to my friends. Instead of spending your money on something somebody else made, or borrowing from your mom, why not make your own?"
- Emma Biedrzycki, 14-year-old novice jewelry maker
