February 13, 2013 I’m taking part in Lori Anderson’s latest Bead Soup extravaganza. My soup partner is Jackie Ryan from North Devon, England. She and I share a love of gemstones, especially Australian opals, as well as watercolors.
Jackie designs jewelry under the name “Kydo Jewellery” — www.kydojewellery.co.uk. She has two beautiful collections — strung gemstones and polymer clay. It’s hard for me to choose a favorite piece of hers, but I am particularly enamored of a gorgeous wore-worked stick pearl ring.
As a lover of all things British, I wanted to send Jackie the most interesting "ingredients" I could as my very small way of thanking Britain for everything it has given us — common law, Sir Isaac Newton, William Shakespeare, Agatha Christie, Charles Darwin, Sherlock Holmes, Mary Shelley, Winston Churchill, Harry Potter, Julie Andrews, Alexander Graham Bell, the Beatles, “Midsomer Murders,” the coolest Olympic opening ceremonies ever, Will & Kate, Winnie the Pooh, and of course, “Downton Abbey.” I could go on, but you get the idea.
Enjoy the soup, Jackie – I can’t wait to see what you create!!
