BeadStyle submission guidelines

What we're looking for and how to submit

If you’ve been thinking about submitting your original designs to Bead Style, here are some things to consider.

If you have made something spectacular (stringing, wirework, or a simple weave) send us a JPEG! We’d love to see it. We do NOT need instructions. We take care of that — if we have questions, we’ll call or e-mail.

To submit a design to Bead Style, please send us the following:
- a clear jpg of your jewelry
- a supply list that includes retail sources for hard-to-find materials
- a list of any unusual tools that you used to complete the project.

Before submitting a design, please consider the following questions:

1. Are you the originator of the design? Bead Style only publishes original work. We cannot publish a design that you saw on the web, learned in a class, or copied from an existing piece. Also, please do not submit work that has already been published or is currently under consideration at another magazine.

2. Are the materials you used readily available from retail merchants? We do not publish projects with materials that are only available wholesale.

Right now, we’re looking at submissions for all issues! We will accept anything we love, regardless of the time of year. For instance, if something is suited to a springtime issue and we've just moved into summer, we'll save your springtime design for the following year.

We hope that these guidelines assist you in planning your submissions to Bead Style. If your project is accepted for publication, the editors reserve the right to name the piece and to write the accompanying article to fit our style and format. Please send electronic submissions to editor@beadstylemag.com.

Barb,

I'd submit polymer to Bead&Button. http://bnb.jewelrymakingmagazines.com/
We've done a few polymer projects over the years, but it's rare.

Do you accept macrame?

Deb, I'm afraid bead quilting is a bit out of our skill set? Have you tried Bead&Button magazine?

Barb, we occasionally do mixed media with very simple polymer. Sent us some pictures.
