Search meTips on searching for projects at BeadStyleMag.com

Published: December 21, 2011 Technology is a blessing and curse — a blessing when it offers us smooth
sailing and instant gratification, and a curse when it's not living up
to our high expectations. None of us are immune to technology getting
under our skin — not even us here at BeadStyleMag.com. So here are some
troubleshooting tips for navigating the Bead Style magazine website — mainly, how best to search.

Searching for subscriber and free projects
So you've got a project in mind or materials in hand, and you decide to use our BeadStyleMag.com "search" feature to get some ideas — for the sake of demonstration, I searched for "pearls." What comes up (as you scroll down) are 122 projects (subscriber and free), Bead Room posts, and miscellaneous articles having to do with pearls. If you're a subscriber, all of what you see as you scroll down is available to you for free. If you're not a subscriber, you'll have access to some, not all, of the BeadStyleMag.com web content.

Finding more projects (for sale)
So when you search from the BeadStyleMag.com homepage, the free and subscriber web-only projects and articles come up right away as you scroll down. But what if you want more? You're in luck! Notice the yellow bar at the top of the page showing more "Downloadable Projects" (in the case of searching "pearls," there are 85 of them). These projects are for sale in the Bead Style store. Generally speaking, these are projects that appeared in the magazine and are not web-only (and not free, whether you're a subscriber or not). You can "click here to see these projects now," then purchase individual PDFs.

Using keywords to search for projects for sale
Once you're in the realm of our Projects for Sale, you'll get the chance to do a "project search." You can search by the following criteria using drop-down options: project type, material, article type, issue, and/or keywords. Using this for-sale project search will bring up only PDFs that are available for purchase in the Bead Style store. If you don't want to buy a project, you can return to the free and subscriber downloadable projects by clicking the links in the yellow box.
