Meet our first Rising Star!

Wendy Cooper is our first "Rising Star" — a designer who has never before published a project in BeadStyle. Wendy is a painter, a beader, and an all-around artist. Her purse handle necklace appears in our September issue (p. 42), "All dressed in white." Wendy has been making purses since the '90s and always thought that if the strap was long enough, it could double as a necklace. Read on for more about where to find cones and to get the scoop on Wendy's Fine Art Clothing, Accessories & Home Decor Show in Shorewood, Wisconsin.

A. From The Bead Goes On: Thai copper bead sterling silver plate cone
B. From The Bead Goes On: Hill tribe silver from Thailand cone
C. From Fire Mountain Gems and Beads: Antiqued sterling silver cone

WENDY LEE COOPER from WISCONSIN said:
Kelsey Lawler, thank you for the lovely article about my strap/necklace purses. Bead Style readers are welcome to the home show! Please come and see my work. It is so nice, to feel the surface and weight of the beads, the texture of the fabric and see the colors and sizes. Then, firsthand, you can try on the necklaces and see how they look and feel. I would love for people to bring and show me how they made "my" necklace as shown in "Bead Style".
