Lucite dangle braceletColorful chain and baubles bring spring's prettiest palette into summer
by Kelsey Lawler
Published: June 27, 2011 | I fell in love with Naomi's May issue cover project and had to
take this palette from spring into summer. With all the colors in
Pantone's "Exotic Journey," picking out fun and colorful
chain to match has never been easier! I went with a hot pop of pink, but
these plastic chains from Mr. Chain
come in so many colors that you can feel free to switch up the supplies.
In the end, you'll have a bright, jangling bracelet that's light and
easy — a perfect summertime project. |
Supplies:
16–24 7-14 mm Lucite beads 16–24 8-10 mm crystals 6–8 8-10 mm metal beads 20–40 3-5 mm flat spacers 7–10 in. chain, 20 mm links 38–56 2-in. head pins 6-7 mm jump ring large lobster claw clasp chainnose and roundnose pliers diagonal wire cutters
|
1. On a head pin, string a flat spacer and a Lucite bead. Using the largest part of your roundnose pliers, make the first half of a wrapped loop. Repeat to make a crystal unit and a metal bead unit, omitting or adding the spacer as desired. Make 38–56 bead units.
|
2. Decide how long you want your bracelet to be and cut a piece of chain to that length. Attach four assorted bead units to each link until the dangle section is the desired length. Complete the wraps as you go.
|
3. Check the fit, and remove chain if necessary. One one end, open a jump ring. Attach a lobster claw clasp and close the jump ring. On the other end, attach bead units as desired for the extender.
