Jewelry Upcycled!
By Sherri Haab and Michelle Haab
In today's age of eco-consciousness and turning old into new, mother and
daughter duo, Sherri and Michelle Haab, have gone green with their
jewelry. Their new book, Jewelry Upcycled!, offers techniques for
creating stylish, Earth-friendly, and one-of-a-kind
accessories. A t-shirt becomes a pin-on
rosette. Soda and shampoo bottles are transformed into charms. Plastic
bags make for a crocheted bracelet. In short: household items become
little works of wearable art. The how-to is easy to follow, the pictures
are bright and engaging, and the overall mission of Jewelry Upcycled! is an easy one to get behind.

Vintage-Style Beaded Jewelry
By Deborah Schneebeli-Morrell
This is a retro take on recycled. The projects in Deborah's book are
exactly what the title claims — vintage-inspired and simply stylish. The
designs range from going glam to wear-everyday, and the materials are
just as varied. While many of the components are widely available, Vintage-Style Beaded Jewelry puts
the focus on found objects — turning costume jewelry and thrift store
finds into new pieces. Learn how to take old china, retro
buttons, and family heirlooms and turn them into something new.
(Stringers be warned: There is a bit more bead-weaving in this book!)

Classic Chain Mail Jewelry By Sue Ripsch
I guess you could say we recycled one of Sue's projects for our May issue of Beadstyle. Sue is featured in our Bead & Button Show teachers special section in May and her project, "3-in-3 with a twist chain," is an excerpt from her book, Classic Chain Mail Jewelry. Her book shows and tells how, with just two pairs of pliers and a pile of jump rings, you can make gorgeous necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Learn the basic chain mail weaves and embellish your designs with beads and crystals. Check out the May issue for a sample, and check out Sue's book if you just can't get enough chain mail!
