Would you call steampunk your preferred style?
Steampunk is not my preferred style, however from time to time I am drawn to a component that absolutely needs to be incorporated into a steampunk-inspired piece. Sometimes it can be a challenge trying to figure out the overall function of the design, but it’s always a lot of fun working in this style.

When did you first start to create steampunk pieces?
I first started designing steampunk-inspired jewelry last winter when we introduced our Vintaj clocks, keys, gears, sprockets, washers, rivets, and fastenables. These metal findings were made for creating cold connections with our altered blanks, and they complement perfectly the Earthenwood Studios steampunk components. The possibilities are endless!

What do you love about steampunk?
I love the industrial feel and movement of steampunk. When working on jewelry I always try to think out of the box. I enjoy mixing metals and found objects into these designs.

I don't like Steam Punk at all. To me it looks like a bunch of junk. Some of the late teem to early twentys may like it but for my age group its not the thing I would wear!!!

I had been trying to buy old pre-quartz watches to take apart and use in my jewellery making. Charity shops and jumble sales did not have any. I mentioned it to a local jeweler when I was buying something and he kindly gave me 4 watch movements that had been removed from gold cases. Steampunk here I come. Just need some more inspiration now. Come on brain start working.
