A bone triangle capped with brass looks lovely hanging from unadorned chain, but a few plain loops to connect oxidized saucers asymmetrically makes this simple necklace a little more interesting.

Supplies
  • necklace 23 in. (58  cm)
  • bone pendant
  • 11 5 mm saucer beads
  • 18 in. (46 cm) medium metal chain, 2 mm links

1. On an eye pin, string a saucer bead. Make a plain loop.

2. Cut four pieces of chain: 2¼ in. (5.7 cm), 31/2 in. (8.9 cm), 43/4 in. (12.1 cm), and 7 in. (18 cm).

3. Connect bead units and chains by opening (and closing) the loops of the bead units. For one side, connect three bead units, 31/2-in. chain, three bead units, and 43/4-in. chain. For the other side, connect 2¼-in. chain, three bead units, and 7-in. chain.

4. Connect the loop of the pendant and the first bead unit of the three-unit section, and the end link of the 2¼-in. chain on the other side.

5. Check the fit, and trim chain if necessary. On each end, use a bead unit to attach half of a toggle clasp.

Love this design. You've given me an idea for what to do with a LillyPilly shell pendant I just bought!
